ATACMS long-range ballistic missiles from the USA already in Ukraine - the leader of the Iranian opposition Rezazade
Ali Reza Rezazade, the vice-president of the Iranian opposition and the founder of the Iranian Freedom Institute, notes that the US has already provided Ukraine with ATACMS long-range ballistic missiles and only plans to increase their supply.
According to Ali Rezazade, during the negotiations, the national security adviser of the US president, Jake Sullivan, promised to increase the number of missiles and noted that ATACMS alone will not be a panacea for Ukraine's victory in the war, and they will provide assistance to other weapons as well, because they have additional funds and opportunities for this.
Jake Sullivan also confirmed that Joe Biden, in February 2024, instructed Ukraine to provide ATACMS missiles for use on the sovereign territory of Ukraine. Sullivan said that the missiles had already arrived in Ukraine, and that Washington was convinced that Kyiv would not use them to strike Russian territory.
"The ATACMS surface-to-surface missile can be launched from HIMARS installations. They are used to strike unfortified objects, such as against infantry, but are now also used against fortified armored targets. ATACMS have the ability to fly at three times the speed of sound and perform maneuvers when approaching the target, which makes it difficult to shoot it down," says expert Ali Rezazade.
Rezazade also suggests that the provision of ATACMS by the US will add arguments for Germany to send long-range Taurus air-to-air missiles to Ukraine.
