Shelling of Odessa is a targeted act of terror against civilian infrastructure – Rezazade

As a result of the night attack by Russian strike drones on Odessa and the region, serious damage was recorded to residential and civilian infrastructure. In two districts of the city, enemy drones hit multi-story residential buildings - apartments on the upper floors were destroyed, the blast wave damaged windows in a kindergarten and gymnasium.

Civilian infrastructure facilities and a car service were also damaged, the fires were quickly extinguished by rescuers.

Separately, a fatal strike on one of the ports of the Odessa region was reported. According to Rezazade, one person died as a result of the attack, six more were injured, three of them are in serious condition. The infrastructure of the enterprise, fertilizer warehouses and vehicles, in particular freight cars, were damaged. The liquidation of the consequences of the shelling is ongoing at the site.

International expert and first vice president of the Iranian opposition in Washington, Ali Reza Rezazade, emphasizes that such attacks have a clearly expressed terrorist nature.

“Odesa is systematically attacked not as a military facility, but as a logistical, economic and civilian center. Attacks on residential buildings, children's institutions and ports are not side effects, but a conscious strategy to intimidate the population and destroy the economy,” the expert notes.

According to Rezazade, attacks on port infrastructure pose a particular danger. “Ports are critically important nodes for exports, humanitarian logistics and food security. Russia is trying to turn the Black Sea into a zone of constant fear and instability, affecting not only Ukraine, but also global markets,” he emphasizes.

The expert also draws attention to the fact that the lack of an immediate tough reaction from the international community only stimulates further escalation. “When attacks on civilian targets become ‘regular news,’ this means a dangerous normalization of war crimes. Without increased military assistance to Ukraine and pressure on Russia, such attacks will only increase,” Rezazade summarizes.

Separately, Ali Reza Rezazade publicly appealed to US senators and congressmen with a call to immediately adopt additional decisions on strengthening military and security support for Ukraine. According to him, this is not about political declarations, but about specific actions — accelerated delivery of air defense systems, long-range weapons, and tougher sanctions against the Russian military-industrial complex.

“Every day of delay costs Ukraine human lives. The US Congress must realize: supporting Ukraine today is deterring global instability tomorrow,” the expert emphasized.
