Massive Ukrainian drone attack demonstrates vulnerability of Russian air defense – Rezazade
Russia announced the shooting down of 287 Ukrainian drones in one night over a number of regions. The largest number of “targets” were recorded over Bryansk (118), Kaluga (40), Moscow (40), Tula (27), Novgorod (19) and Yaroslavl (11) regions.
Moscow reported the shooting down of 32 drones, which caused large-scale disruptions in air traffic - more than 200 flights were delayed or canceled.
First Vice President of the Iranian opposition in Washington, international expert Ali Reza Rezazade notes that regardless of the exaggerations in Russian statistics, the scale of the attack itself demonstrates a new level of Ukrainian capabilities.
“If even half of these figures are true, this is a strategic failure of Russian air defense. Such a number of drones flying to Moscow and the central regions of the Russian Federation shows that Ukraine is capable of systematically and deeply penetrating Russian airspace,” Rezazade emphasizes.
The expert emphasizes that strikes on the Moscow air hub have a significant political and economic effect:
“When hundreds of flights are canceled due to an attack, it creates internal pressure on the Kremlin and fuels public discontent. Moscow is trying to hide the panic, but it is becoming more and more difficult to maintain the illusion of security.”
According to Rezazade, the Ukrainian strategy of using drones exhausts the Russian air defense system and forces the enemy to disperse resources over a vast territory.
“Ukraine proves that Russia cannot protect its own infrastructure. Every such night is a demonstration that the war is returning to the aggressor’s territory,” the expert concludes.
