Протестующие пытались заблокировать автострады в ответ на высокие налоги на топливо, введенные президентом Эммануэлем Макроном.
Во время блокады на дороге в области Савойя водитель запаниковала, увидев демонстрантов, и наехал на одну из них. В результате несчастного случая женщина погибла.
По данным министерства внутренних дел, шестнадцать человек получили легкие ранения в результате других инцидентов по всей стране. Некоторые аварии произошли, когда водители, не участвовавшие в акциях, пытались обойти блокады.
