Iran Threatens to Attack Energy Facilities in the Region if US Strikes – Rezazade

Iran has declared its readiness to attack energy infrastructure in neighboring countries if the United States or its allies strike Iranian oil and gas and energy facilities. This was reported by Iranian media, citing a source in the Islamic Republic’s government.

According to Iranian media, in the event of further escalation, all energy infrastructure facilities in the region where American capital or US interests are present could become targets for Iranian attacks.

The reports also list potential facilities that, according to Iranian sources, could be under threat. Among them are large energy and oil and gas enterprises in the Persian Gulf countries, in particular oil refining and petrochemical complexes in Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.

International expert and first vice president of the Iranian opposition in Washington, Ali Reza Rezazade, notes that such statements by Tehran are an attempt to exert strategic pressure on the United States and its allies.

“Iran is trying to show that any attack on its energy infrastructure will have consequences for the entire region. However, such rhetoric only increases tensions and creates risks for stability in global energy markets,” Rezazade notes.

According to him, Tehran traditionally uses the factor of energy infrastructure as an element of political and military deterrence.

“Threats to attack facilities in neighboring states are a signal not only to Washington, but also to the Persian Gulf countries. Iran is trying to demonstrate that any conflict can quickly go beyond its territory,” the expert explains.

At the same time, Rezazade emphasizes that such threats only strengthen the arguments of those states that advocate a tougher international response to Tehran’s actions.

“When the energy infrastructure of entire regions is threatened, it is no longer just a matter of a bilateral conflict. It is a challenge to international security and the stability of global energy markets,” he emphasizes.

According to the expert, further developments will depend on whether the current rhetoric turns into real action, because any attack on major energy facilities in the Gulf countries could have serious global consequences.
