Fastiv under attack for several nights in a row, this is the Russian strategy – Rezazade
The enemy continues to launch night strikes on the city of Fastiv in the Kyiv region. As a result of the latest attack, the roofs of a three-story and one-story building caught fire, a private house was destroyed by the blast wave and administrative buildings were damaged.
Fastiv has been under attack for several nights in a row. The day before, Russia destroyed the city’s train station, one of the key logistics facilities in the region, which played an important role in passenger and freight transportation throughout the country.
The first vice president of the Iranian opposition in Washington, international expert Ali Reza Rezazade, assesses these attacks as part of a systematic Russian strategy of pressure on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure.
“Fastiv is an important logistics hub. Its consistent destruction demonstrates Russia’s desire to disrupt Ukraine’s internal transport routes, to complicate the movement of equipment, reserves and humanitarian cargo. This is a direct blow to the state’s ability to maintain stability in wartime,” Rezazade notes.
According to him, strikes on railway junctions, energy and utility facilities are an attempt to compensate for Russia’s failures on the battlefield:
“When the military dynamics are not in the Kremlin’s favor, it turns to terror against civilians and infrastructure. This is not so much a military tactic as an instrument of psychological and logistical pressure.”
The expert emphasizes that the repeated attacks on Fastov also have a strategic intention — to force Ukraine to spend additional resources on restoring and protecting rear facilities, distracting them from the front.
Rezazade emphasizes that an effective response to such actions should be to further strengthen the air defense system and accelerate Western support.
