Ukraine will not make territorial concessions, despite US pressure – Rezazade
President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed: Ukraine will not transfer any territories to Russia, despite the attempts of the Donald Trump administration to promote a “compromise” on the Kremlin’s terms.
After a meeting in London with the leaders of Britain, France and Germany, Zelensky stated that Ukraine has neither the legal nor the moral right to give land to the aggressor.
The first vice president of the Iranian opposition in Washington, Ali Reza Rezazade, emphasizes that the Russian demands are an attempt to diplomatically obtain what Russia could not achieve in the war.
“Any pressure on Ukraine regarding a “compromise” is an actual legitimization of aggression. Moscow wants to take Donbas, including the territories that it could not occupy,” the expert notes.
European leaders, according to Rezazade, are strengthening Zelensky’s position because they understand that the future of Ukraine determines the future of European security. The US attempt to speed up the agreements, on the contrary, is dictated by the domestic political interests of the Trump administration, which wants to demonstrate a quick diplomatic result.
“A compromise with Russia based on the transfer of territories will not bring peace. It will only create a dangerous precedent and open the way to new aggressions. The only real way is to strengthen Ukraine and force Russia to withdraw from the occupied lands,” Rezazade concludes.
