"America First" Policy: Rubio Talks About Trump Administration's Foreign Policy – Rezazade
Vice President of the Iranian Opposition in Washington (NIC) Ali Reza Rezazade said that the incoming administration of Donald Trump plans to focus on supporting key allies such as Israel and Taiwan, to be more aggressive in confronting China, and to take a more "realistic" approach to global crises if they do not serve US interests.
Marco Rubio, a candidate for Secretary of State, said this during a Senate hearing.
Rubio, a 53-year-old Republican senator from Florida, is expected to be confirmed for the post. At a hearing before the Foreign Affairs Committee, he outlined the new administration's vision for an "America First" foreign policy.
Of particular note is the emphasis on countering China. "China is the most dangerous adversary the United States has ever faced," Rubio said. He emphasized that China dominates key global supply chains, is a competitor in science, technology, global markets, and political and military influence.
The decision also reflects the Trump administration’s desire to focus on long-term strategic goals, without being distracted by regional conflicts, such as the crises in Ukraine and Gaza, which were more of a concern to the previous administration.
