Calls for military strikes on Iran are intensifying in the world – Rezazade
The discussion on the possibility of forceful pressure on Iran has intensified again in the United States. The public statement of Senator Lindsey Graham, who called on Donald Trump to start bombing Iran without a ground operation, became another signal of the aggravation of approaches to the Iranian issue in Washington.
Graham directly stated that, in his opinion, the Iranian regime “crossed red lines”, accusing Tehran of mass murders of its own population and contempt for American leadership. He proposed to carry out targeted strikes on the structures responsible for the repression, positioning it as a way to “make Iran great again”.
International expert and first vice president of the Iranian opposition in Washington Ali Reza Rezazade notes that such statements are not emotional rhetoric, but reflect a change in mood on the part of the American political establishment. “We see that patience with the Iranian regime is rapidly running out. Repressions within the country, the export of instability in the region and demonstrative disregard for international norms are pushing the West towards tougher scenarios,” he emphasizes.
At the same time, Rezazade emphasizes that military pressure should not be perceived as an end in itself. “This is not about war for the sake of war. Limited and targeted actions can be seen as a tool to deter and force the regime to change if all other mechanisms — sanctions, diplomacy, international isolation — have not yielded results,” the expert notes.
According to him, the key factor remains the internal dimension of the Iranian crisis. “The regime in Tehran does not rely on legitimacy, but on fear and force. Any external pressure should be aimed at weakening the repressive apparatus, and not at causing harm to Iranian society,” Rezazade emphasizes.
The expert also warns that uncontrolled escalation could have serious regional consequences. "Therefore, the question is not whether to influence Iran, but how to do it. The strategy must be clear, limited, and aimed at a political outcome — changing the regime's behavior," he concludes.
