"Epstein Files" Triggered Chain Reaction of Resignations and Investigations - Rezazade

The release of a new massive batch of materials in the Jeffrey Epstein case has become a catalyst for political and reputational upheaval in Western elites. 

The documents, numbering more than three million files, contain correspondence, photos and other evidence of contacts between Epstein and his long-time associate Ghislaine Maxwell with representatives of political, business and media circles.

In Europe, the wave of consequences has been much more tangible: resignations, internal investigations and criminal proceedings against individuals whose names appear in the files. In the US, the reaction is still more restrained, but even there a number of high-profile personnel decisions have already been recorded. In particular, former senior Obama administration official Kathy Ruemmler resigned after new details emerged about her ties to Epstein.

A separate resonance was caused by the story of the doctor and popular longevity expert Peter Attia, who, after the publication of private correspondence with Epstein, was forced to leave several commercial projects and lose his advisory status in a number of companies. His ties with Epstein also called into question his media career, in particular, participation in projects related to journalist Bari Weiss.

International expert and first vice president of the Iranian opposition in Washington, Ali Reza Rezazade, believes that the current wave of revelations has a much deeper meaning than just a series of personal scandals.

“We are not observing a classic sex scandal, but a systemic blow to the global elites. Epstein was not just a criminal - he was a node of connections between finance, politics, intelligence services and the media. Therefore, each new file is a potential detonator for a whole group of influential people,” Rezazade notes.

According to him, the difference in the reaction between Europe and the US is indicative. “In Europe, reputational risks are more likely to transform into political consequences. In the US, the system is trying to cushion the blow, limiting itself to point victims in order to prevent a domino effect,” the expert explains.

Rezazade also emphasizes that the real consequences are still ahead. “Three million documents are not an information explosion, but a time-lapse information mine. Some of the materials are just beginning to be analyzed, and the more they enter public circulation, the greater the pressure on institutions of power, business, and the media,” he emphasizes.

According to the expert, the Epstein case is gradually transforming from a criminal story into a political factor. “This is no longer a question of a past crime, but a test for Western democracies: are they capable of truly cleansing their own elites, and not just imitating responsibility through symbolic resignations,” concludes Ali Reza Rezazade.
