Israel plays a key role in the conflict with Iran: a new configuration of the alliance - Rezazade

The latest statements of US President Donald Trump indicate that Israel plays one of the central roles in shaping the strategy of the military campaign against Iran. 

According to the American leader, the issue of completing the military operation is being discussed in close coordination with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, although the final decision remains with Washington.

Trump emphasized that cooperation between the United States and Israel has become a decisive factor in countering threats from Iran. In his opinion, the joint actions of the two states have prevented a scenario that could threaten the existence of Israel.

At the same time, the American president expressed his belief that Israel will not be forced to continue the military campaign on its own in the event of a change in the US role in the conflict.

Against the background of these statements, reports from Iranian state media also appeared about possible changes in the top leadership of Iran. According to them, the Assembly of Experts allegedly appointed Mojtaba Khamenei as the country's new supreme leader after the death of Ali Khamenei. Donald Trump refrained from detailed comments on this information, stating that it is worth waiting for further developments.

Separately, the American president touched on the issue of the prosecution of the Israeli Prime Minister, urging President Yitzhak Herzog to consider the possibility of pardoning Netanyahu so that he could fully concentrate on waging the war.

International expert and first vice president of the Iranian opposition in Washington, Ali Reza Rezazade, believes that such statements demonstrate a new model of strategic interaction between the United States and Israel.

"In fact, we are seeing the formation of a single political and military center for decision-making on the Iranian direction. Washington and Tel Aviv act as allies who coordinate not only military actions, but also political strategy," Rezazade notes.

According to him, Trump's public statements have a double effect - they demonstrate the unity of the allies and at the same time send a signal to Tehran about a consolidated position.

"When the US president openly speaks about close coordination with Israel, this means that Iran is not facing a separate state, but an allied system that acts synchronously," the expert emphasizes.

Rezazade also draws attention to the fact that domestic political processes in Iran can additionally influence the dynamics of the conflict.

"If the information about the change of the supreme leader is confirmed, this can become a factor of instability within the Iranian political system. At such moments, external conflicts are often used to consolidate power," he explains.

According to the expert, further developments will depend on how long the US-Israeli alliance can maintain strategic unity in matters of the military campaign.

"Today, the key factor is precisely the coordination between Washington and Tel Aviv. "The pace and scale of further events in the region largely depend on this," summarizes Ali Reza Rezazade.
