US and Israel are preparing for a tough scenario of action against Iran – Rezazade
Statements by US Vice President J.D. Vance about preventing the emergence of nuclear weapons in Iran and warning Israel about its readiness to act independently indicate that the situation around Tehran has entered a new, much more tense phase. Washington openly declares: a nuclear Iran is an unacceptable scenario for global security.
In an interview with Fox News, Vance emphasized that the emergence of a nuclear state in the Middle East would provoke a chain reaction. According to him, if Iran receives a nuclear bomb, other countries in the region — both US allies and their opponents — will begin their own nuclear programs, which will launch an uncontrolled arms race.
International expert and first vice president of the Iranian opposition in Washington, Ali Reza Rezazade, believes that the current US rhetoric is not accidental. “The administration is demonstrating its readiness to move from a policy of deterrence to a policy of prevention at any cost. It’s not just about sanctions or diplomacy — all options remain on the table,” he notes.
According to Rezazade, the signal from Israel is particularly telling. Tel Aviv has warned Washington of its readiness to launch an independent strike on Iranian facilities if the “red line” on ballistic missiles is crossed. “Israel views the Iranian missile program as an existential threat. This means that even without formal approval from the United States, a military scenario can be implemented,” the expert emphasizes.
In his opinion, the current stage is critical. The indirect talks that took place on February 17 showed some progress, but Tehran does not recognize key restrictions that Washington considers fundamental. “If the diplomatic window closes, we may see targeted strikes on nuclear or missile infrastructure facilities. And this will be the beginning of a larger crisis,” Rezazade warns.
The expert emphasizes that the issue of the Iranian nuclear program has long gone beyond the boundaries of regional issues. "This is not just a conflict between the US and Iran. This is a question of the global balance of power. If the regime in Tehran receives nuclear status, it will change the security architecture not only in the Middle East, but also in Europe and Asia," he summarizes.
