Biden-Netanyahu conflict flares up - Ali Reza Rezazade
The political interests of the President of the USA and the Prime Minister of Israel have a big difference, due to which a sharp conflict has arisen between them - the leader of the Iranian opposition, Ali Reza Rezazade.
Vice President of the Iranian Opposition in Washington (NIC), Ali Reza Rezazade, noted that a serious conflict is brewing between Joe Biden and Benjamin Netanyahu due to different political views on long-term peace in the Middle East. However, as the expert notes, this dispute has been going on for a long time.
Joe Biden's public declaration that the United States would not provide military support in the event of a full-scale IDF invasion of the southern Gaza city of Rafah because it would result in an already horrific number of civilian casualties has angered the Israeli prime minister. With such a statement, Benjamin Netanyahu and his right-wing coalition partners alienate the president, who is one of Israel's best friends, and the Israeli-Palestinian issue once again becomes partisan.
"While supporting Israel's goal of defeating Hamas and insisting that the United States will continue to provide Israel with all the help it needs to defend itself, Biden was not referring to a full-scale military operation in Rafah. After Israel launched an offensive, Biden indicated that the US would not supply weapons and artillery shells for offensive actions," Ali Reza Rezazade notes.
The U.S. Republican Party united in condemning Biden's decision, after which House Speaker Mike Johnson, along with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, who rarely make joint statements, quickly published a letter condemning Joe Biden, writing that "pauses in the supply of critical weapons call into question your promise that your commitment to Israel's security will remain ironclad." Former US President Donald Trump calls Joe Biden's decision "shameful".
