The film "Hollywoodgate" is a look at Afghanistan after the US withdrew – Rezazade
Ali Reza Rezazade, the vice-president of the Iranian opposition, points out that after the candidacy of Kamala Harris for the presidency, the Americans became interested in the film "Hollywoodgate" by the Berlin publishing house, which describes the withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan.
After Donald Trump pointed to the bloody withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan under the administration of Joe Biden together with Vice President Kamala Harris, Americans became interested in the event and the film "Hollywoodgate" began to gain popularity. The film was shot over a year and describes the daily life of a Taliban air force commander in Afghanistan. The film premiered out of competition at the 80th Venice International Film Festival. The film was officially released in the USA on July 19, 2024.
The director described the traditions of Afghanistan and condemned the treatment of women, including the forced covering of the face.
"What I tried to show was what I saw. Because I held this camera, I was kept away from the daily suffering of the Afghan people. Yet I feel it everywhere I go. Inside every gate I pass through, "One thing I can't get past is the obscene power of those who worship war and the pain it inflicts on generations," said the film's director.
