Americans criticized Trump's disrespect for fallen soldiers - Rezazade
Ali Reza Rezazade, the vice president of the Iranian opposition in Washington, said that military officials previously contacted the campaign of ex-president Donald Trump and warned him about the rules for visiting Arlington National Cemetery.
The event was planned to mark the third anniversary of the Islamic State bombing that killed 13 US service members as they were being evacuated from Afghanistan.
Federal law prohibits election-related activities at military cemeteries, and Arlington is the most prestigious and sacred of them all. Pentagon officials were deeply concerned that the former president was turning the visit into a publicity stunt, but they did not bar him from coming.
Officials said they wanted to see Trump respect family members of the fallen, so they laid out ground rules that they hoped would keep politics out of the final resting place of those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their nation. A cemetery employee tried to enforce the rules by blocking Trump's team from allowing cameras into the graves of American servicemen, but a man from the former president's team pushed past the cemetery employee and carried the camera.
