Trump attacks Musk: what is behind the new conflict between the elites of technology and politics – Rezazade
US President Donald Trump sharply criticized Elon Musk, accusing him of trying to create “chaos and destabilization” through the idea of launching a third political party. In a post on the Truth Social platform, Trump called the billionaire a “disaster” who has “gone off the rails” in the past five weeks, and accused him of colluding with Democrats and dangerously lobbying for electric cars.
The first vice president of the Iranian opposition in Washington, international analyst Ali Reza Rezazade, believes that the public conflict between Trump and Musk is not just a personal enmity, but a manifestation of a deeper process of stratification among the American elites.
“We are witnessing a confrontation between the technological and political spheres. Musk personifies a new technocratic force that seeks political influence without the usual party formats. Trump is the embodiment of traditional political influence, which sees a threat in such projects,” Rezazade notes.
In his statement, Trump accused Musk of supporting an “absurd EV mandate,” which, according to him, would force all Americans to buy electric cars. However, the abolition of this mandate was part of a new major bill that the Trump administration considers an achievement.
“Trump is using this topic to mobilize his supporters — especially those who perceive the environmental agenda as a threat to freedom of choice. Musk, for his part, is becoming a symbol of innovation, but is losing support among conservatives,” the expert believes.
Trump paid special attention to Musk’s alleged desire to create a third political party — and criticized the idea itself as a source of “destabilization.” According to Rezazade, such a reaction speaks of the elites’ fear of political fragmentation.
“Third parties in the US rarely succeed, but the very fact of trying to create a new pole of influence is already alarming for the political community. This once again emphasizes that the power structure in the US may become vulnerable to non-standard scenarios,” he adds.
Trump also hinted at a conflict of interest: Musk, according to him, tried to influence the appointment of the head of NASA, a person close to him and at the same time connected to the democratic camp.
“This is another front of the conflict — the influence of business on state institutions. And Trump is trying to act here as a defender of statehood, despite his reputation as a business politician,” Rezazade concludes.
