Washington steps up diplomacy: Israel agrees to Gaza ceasefire terms – Rezazade
US President Donald Trump said that Israel has accepted key conditions necessary for a 60-day ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. The meeting between US representatives and the Israeli side, according to the president, was “long and productive”, and now it is Hamas’s turn.
“Israel has agreed to the necessary conditions. Qatar and Egypt will present a final proposal. I hope Hamas will accept it - otherwise it will not be better,” Trump stressed in his address.
First Vice President of the Iranian opposition in Washington, international analyst Ali Reza Rezazade notes: the current diplomatic initiative of the White House demonstrates the US desire to act as a key guarantor of de-escalation in the region, while maintaining a balance of interests.
“This is not only a tactical pause, but also a window of opportunity for long-term agreements. Washington acts as a mediator with the potential to change the course of the conflict without changing the public rhetoric of support for Israel,” Rezazade emphasizes.
The analyst also emphasizes: the involvement of Qatar and Egypt as mediators is an indicator that the United States continues to play through regional players, without directly engaging in the negotiation process between Israel and Hamas.
“If an agreement is reached, it will make it possible to avoid a new wave of violence. The success of the negotiations is a chance not only for Gaza, but also for restoring trust in American diplomacy in the region,” Ali Reza Rezade pointed out.
