The death of Iranian President Raisi will mean a period of instability, but there will be no changes in the country's foreign policy - Rezazade
Ali Reza Rezazade, an expert and vice-president of the Iranian opposition in Washington, indicates that the death of Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash will cause a period of increased instability in relations with Iran, however, significant changes in Iran's foreign policy are currently not expected.
"Unfortunately, for today, Iran plans to preserve the past vector - the country will deepen ties with China and Russia, support Hamas and other terrorist groups and continue its nuclear program," Ali Reza Rezazade notes.
The expert points out that precisely because of this vector of movement, Iran's economy is already in a bad state, the level of unemployment is high, because many specialists leave Iran in search of better work abroad, if the country does not change its policy, the situation will worsen.
From the point of view of Iran's foreign policy, the president is not responsible for the development of Iran's strategic policy in the region or at the international level, because all strategic decisions in the country are made by the supreme leader, who also formulates foreign policy, resolves defense issues, nuclear weapons issues, etc. A key question of the change of president will be whether the basic principles of the Islamic Republic will change - its hostility to the United States, hostility to Israel and orientation towards Russia and China.
