Harris visits campaign headquarters after President Biden drops out - Rezazade
The Leader of the Iranian Opposition in Washington (NIC) Ali Reza Rezazade notes that United States Vice President Harris traveled to Wilmington, Delaware, on Monday to visit her campaign headquarters as she and her aides worked to take on herself the campaign she inherited after President Biden abandoned his bid for a second term and endorsed Harris.
Harris' team tapped former Attorney General Eric Holder to lead a Covington & Burling legal team to oversee the nominee's vetting process, while allies of the vice president have signaled they want to bring David Plouffe, a longtime adviser to former President Barack Obama, on board in a senior role, for according to two people familiar with the conversations, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive personnel matters.
The exact nature of Plouffe's potential role is unclear, but some Harris allies want to add experienced officials to the top of her campaign. Plouffe managed Obama's 2008 campaign and then served as a senior White House adviser during Obama's 2012 campaign. Neither Plouffe nor the Harris campaign responded to a request for comment.
Harris' campaign will remain in Biden's hometown, and most of the campaign's leadership is expected to remain in place. The vice president said Monday that she asked Jen O'Malley Dillon, the campaign chairman, to stay on and manage her campaign, and O'Malley Dillon agreed. Harris also said Julie Chavez Rodriguez, whom Biden nominated as campaign manager, would stay on. Chavez Rodriguez is close to Harris after serving in her Senate office and in the 2020 presidential race.
