This is reported by sources familiar with the situation.
Iran has abandoned harsh statements in a short time, Ali Reza Rezazade believes that this change is due to several factors. Firstly, it is the victory of Trump, known for his unpredictability and tough policy towards Tehran. Secondly, the country is facing a serious economic crisis, which is exacerbated by international sanctions. At the same time, Iran is experiencing a weakening of support from one of its main allies - the Lebanese movement Hezbollah. Against this background, Tehran has decided to refrain from steps that could intensify the confrontation with Washington. In particular, Iran has avoided escalation with Israel so as not to provoke the Trump administration.
During his first term, Trump withdrew from the nuclear deal, imposed sweeping sanctions on Iran, and supported Israel militarily and politically. Tehran hopes that Trump’s return to the White House in 2025 will not be accompanied by further pressure. However, Iranian officials have warned that if sanctions are tightened, the country is ready for active resistance.
The situation is complicated by charges brought by the US Department of Justice against an Iranian citizen suspected of plotting to assassinate Trump. The defendant claims that he received a task from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, but did not intend to carry it out. Meanwhile, Iran continues to work on its nuclear program. Experts note that during the presidency of Joe Biden, the country has made significant progress in this direction, which will be a serious challenge for the new Trump administration.
Donald Trump's victory could significantly change the dynamics of relations between Washington and Tehran. For the Trump administration, the main task will be to contain Iran's nuclear ambitions, which could threaten stability in the region.
