Trump plans to replace FBI Director Wray with Kesh Patel – Rezazade

Vice President of the Iranian opposition in Washington (NIC) Ali Reza Rezazade reports that US President-elect Donald Trump has announced that after taking office he plans to fire the current Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Christopher Wray. According to Trump, Kesh Patel will be appointed to replace him.
He announced this on his social network Truth Social. “Kesh Patel is an outstanding lawyer, experienced investigator and a true patriot who has dedicated his life to exposing corruption and protecting the American people. I am proud to announce him as the next Director of the FBI,” Trump said in his post.
Recall that Christopher Wray’s term as FBI Director is 10 years, and there are still three years left. However, the president has the right to dismiss the director early if he deems it necessary.
It is worth noting that Christopher Wray was appointed FBI Director in 2017 by Trump himself, after the dismissal of James Comey. However, their relationship deteriorated significantly before the end of Trump’s first presidential term. The situation became even more complicated after Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate was raided in 2022 as part of an investigation into the improper storage of classified documents.
Kesh Patel is known as a high-ranking official who worked in the Trump administration during his first term. He is also the author of a book in which he exposes representatives of the so-called “deep state apparatus” who, in his opinion, harm the interests of the country. Patel has repeatedly made harsh statements on social networks, in particular, expressing his intentions to liquidate the FBI headquarters and dismiss its employees immediately after taking office.
Late in his first term, Trump had already tried to appoint Patel to a senior position at the FBI or CIA, but the move was blocked by senior officials at the Justice Department and the CIA. In his memoirs, then-Attorney General William Barr wrote that the appointment was considered unacceptable even among Trump’s inner circle.
Trump’s plans for the FBI signal his intention to fundamentally change the way the agency is run, emphasizing the leadership’s loyalty to his policies.
