Trump Will Face New Challenges – Rezazade

The leader of the Iranian opposition in Washington (NIC), Ali Reza Rezazade, notes that the President of the United States, Donald Trump, who is starting his second term, will have to deal with more complex and dangerous international problems than those he faced four years ago.
The war in Ukraine, tensions in the Middle East and the growing challenges from China are just some of them.
The focus of Trump’s second term is on domestic issues. One of the main points of his election campaign was the deportation of millions of illegal immigrants. His early appointments indicate the seriousness of his intentions on this issue, but the implementation of such a plan faces practical and political difficulties.
Trump’s economic policy also remains in the spotlight. Tax and spending cuts, as well as regulatory changes, were key promises. While voters ranked economic issues, especially inflation, above other concerns, many economists warn that continuing tariffs and tax cuts could lead to a new wave of inflation and rising debt.
Trump will be forced to respond quickly to international challenges. The war in Ukraine continues, and Russian President Vladimir Putin is becoming increasingly hostile. The Middle East remains in chaos after more than 15 months of war, Iran is weakened, Syria is without Bashar al-Assad, and Israel, while strengthened militarily, has suffered serious losses on the international stage due to its actions in Gaza.
China also poses a serious challenge. Trump is threatening new tariffs against the backdrop of China’s economic problems and its growing military ambitions. In his new administration, he plans to focus several hawks on China.
In his first term, Trump demonstrated a personal approach to foreign policy, preferring to negotiate with autocrats rather than work through traditional alliances. But in a second term, he may face difficulties in relations with leaders such as Putin, Xi Jinping, and Kim Jong-un.
