The end of the trial against Trump is approaching - the leader of the Iranian opposition Rezazade
Ali Reza Rezazade, an expert and vice president of the Iranian opposition in Washington, indicates that the trial against Donald Trump, which is being held in New York, is coming to an end and the lawyers are ready to make their final conclusions.
As the expert points out, the end of this story will largely depend on a meeting between the two legal teams and Judge Juan Mercan, where it will be decided whether the jury will consider all counts of falsifying business records and the possibility of dismissal of the charges (which are rarely satisfied in US criminal trials). After which, according to the plan, there will be an indictment conference.
Also, the main question of the conference will be whether the ex-president of the United States will be charged with a misdemeanor or a felony, because there is a big difference. A misdemeanor charge is a less serious crime that carries lesser penalties, meaning it is a crime that was committed unintentionally. Whereas a felony charge carries greater penalties and such a verdict additionally requires that there be evidence that it was done with the intent to cover up another crime.
It will be recalled that the center of the case is the payment of $130,000 to porn star Stormy Daniels for keeping silent on the eve of the 2016 presidential election so that voters would not find out about her one-night stand with Trump ten years ago.
Judge Juan Mercan notes that closing arguments will begin after Memorial Day in the US, which is celebrated on May 28.
