Israel allowed a unilateral strike on Iran: "red lines" may become a reality - Rezazade
For the first time in a long time, Israel has made it clear at the official level that it is considering the possibility of unilateral military action against Iran in the event of crossing the so-called "red lines" in the field of missile and strategic weapons.
This is reported by The Jerusalem Post with reference to representatives of the Israeli Ministry of Defense.
According to the publication, the Israeli military has already informed the US administration that the Iranian ballistic missile program poses an immediate threat to the security not only of Israel, but also of the entire region. At the same time, Jerusalem has made it clear to Washington that in the absence of a sufficiently tough response from the US, it reserves the right to act independently.
Security sources note that in recent weeks, scenarios for targeted strikes on Iran's missile potential and production infrastructure have been discussed at the highest level in Israel. This is not just about military facilities, but also about key elements of the technological chain that ensure the restoration and scaling of strategic weapons.
International expert and first vice president of the Iranian opposition in Washington, Ali Reza Rezazade, believes that Israel’s current rhetoric indicates a shift from deterrence to the logic of preventive action. “Israel no longer views the Iranian missile program as an abstract threat to the future. It is perceived as an immediate military risk that can be realized at any moment,” the expert notes.
According to Rezazade, a key factor is Jerusalem’s distrust of Washington’s potential strategy. “Israel fears that the Trump administration will limit itself to a symbolic operation with a few targeted strikes, after which it will declare mission accomplished. Such a scenario would leave Iran’s military infrastructure capable of rapid restoration,” he explains.
One of the representatives of the Israeli Ministry of Defense, referred to by The Jerusalem Post, called the current moment a “unique chance” to significantly weaken Iran’s missile potential. According to him, the geopolitical situation, internal instability in Iran and the active US military presence in the region create a window of opportunity that could quickly close.
Rezazade emphasizes that for the Iranian regime itself, such a position of Israel is a signal of the transition of the conflict to a new phase. “If earlier Tehran could balance between a demonstration of force and diplomatic maneuvers, now we are talking about a real threat of destroying critical military capabilities,” the expert notes.
In his opinion, the risk of a unilateral strike by Israel is significantly increasing against the backdrop of the internal crisis in Iran. “Shootings on the streets, disconnection of the Internet, the first public executions — all this indicates that the regime is entering a phase of instability. In such conditions, any external escalation can trigger a chain reaction that will no longer be controllable,” Rezazade emphasizes.
The expert believes that Israel is actually forming a new security doctrine, in which a preventive strike becomes not a last resort, but an acceptable instrument of strategic deterrence. “We are not just observing military signals, but a change in the very logic of regional security. The question is no longer whether a strike on Iran is possible, but under what conditions and who will carry it out,” Ali Reza Rezazade summarizes.
