Israel-Iran: A Geopolitical Issue That Could Change the Region – Rezazade
Explosions over Tel Aviv, missiles over central Iran, sirens, military parades and the threat of a major war. The escalation between Israel and Iran is no longer a local incident – it is a global signal.
This was stated by the first vice president of the Iranian opposition in Washington, international expert Ali Reza Rezazade, commenting on the development of the conflict, which for the fourth day now threatens to turn into a full-scale regional war.
“Israel did not simply respond to the threat. It opened a new phase of confrontation – without intermediaries. Iran, in response, is demonstrating that it is ready for direct confrontation. This is no longer about proxy wars. This is about a strategic shift in the military doctrine of the region,” the expert said.
He emphasizes that the strikes on the Quds Force centers, the elite unit of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, indicate a change in Israel's goals: not only deterrence, but also a demonstration of the ability to destroy key Iranian command centers.
At the same time, according to Rezazade, Tehran's response in the form of new missile attacks indicates Iran's efforts to maintain strategic balance and political face within the country.
"Now we face three risks: escalation, uncontrolled regional war, and US involvement. And although Washington claims neutrality, American diplomacy is already losing influence. And Trump's statement - "sometimes they have to fight" - sounds like a signal of permission, not deterrence," the expert believes.
Rezazade emphasizes that Ukraine should also closely monitor this conflict: "Any large-scale conflict in the Middle East affects energy markets, international attention, and supplies of weapons and resources. Israel's war with Iran is another challenge to the world order, which is being shaken on all sides."
