Pentagon punishes General Milley: investigation and removal of security – Rezazade
The first vice president of the Iranian opposition in Washington, Ali Reza Rezazade, indicates that US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has decided to remove the security of retired General Mark A. Milley, deprive him of access to classified information and initiate an investigation into his activities as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
This was reported by senior Pentagon officials.
Milley, who headed the Joint Chiefs of Staff from 2019 to 2023, has repeatedly been criticized by former President Donald Trump. Trump accused the general of disloyalty, and Milley himself confirmed in his testimony to Congress that he had spoken to journalists who were writing books about Trump’s first term.
According to a senior Defense Department official, the decision was made as part of restoring “fighting spirit” among the military. The administration wants to review Milley’s military rank and possibly even downgrade him.
Pentagon spokesman John Ulliot said that Hegseth informed Milley of the decision personally. In turn, the chief of staff to the Secretary of Defense, Joe Casper, said that undermining the military hierarchy harms national security.
The decision could have serious consequences not only for Milley, but also for the entire US military system.
