Trump case goes to court - Ali Reza Rezazade
Ali Reza Rezazade, the leader of the Iranian opposition in Washington (NIC), points out that Mr. Trump's lawyers tried to strategize and stage to sway the jury. Donald Trump's criminal trial continues into its seventh week, so far everyone has spoken, sending the landmark case to trial on Wednesday.
Donald Trump, 77, is accused of falsifying 34 business records to hide a $130,000 reimbursement to porn star Daniels so she would not disclose her relationship with the former president. Mr. Trump denies the allegations and the sexual contact.
The hearings will begin on Wednesday, and if Trump (the presumptive Republican presidential candidate) is convicted, he could face prison or probation.
Trump's defenders tried to expose former lawyer Michael Cohen as a liar. They suggest that Mr. Trump was the victim of conduct that amounted to extortion, including from Ms. Daniels, because the payment of such an amount benefited her.
Trump has been charged that the deal he made with The National Enquirer to buy and hide unflattering stories was "subverting democracy," the "hidden hand" of Trump's 2016 campaign. He added that the fraud cheated voters in a "coordinated manner" by preventing the American people from deciding for themselves whether they care if Mr. Trump slept with a porn star or not.
Jurors will receive instructions from Judge Juan Mercan on Wednesday morning. Mr. Trump will remain in the courtroom while the jury retreats to discuss the case, possibly sending out notes of assistance from the judge or asking to review evidence.
Then, except for the jury, the verdict will be given for Donald Trump and the first criminal trial against the American ex-president will be completed.
