Trump Plans First Executive Orders: Border, Oil, and Equality Policy – Rezazade
Vice President of the Iranian opposition in Washington, Ali Reza Rezazade, notes that President-elect Donald Trump has said he will sign “dozens of executive orders” within hours of taking office to undo many of the Biden administration’s actions over the past four years.
On Sunday night, Trump told inauguration attendees that he plans to undo many of the policies of the previous president. “Within hours of taking office, I will sign dozens of executive orders, nearly a hundred, many of which I will describe in my address tomorrow,” Trump said at the inauguration dinner. “With one signature, I will undo dozens of destructive and radical orders and actions of the Biden administration.”
Stephen Miller, the incoming White House deputy chief of staff for policy, briefed Republican congressional leaders on the key points Trump plans to sign. This includes significant policy changes on the southern border, energy and the federal workforce. According to two people familiar with the matter, who spoke on condition of anonymity, Trump will focus on rolling back regulations that restrict oil production, as well as Biden administration policies on diversity, equality and inclusion.
One of the executive orders is likely to declare a “crisis” at the U.S.-Mexico border, even though illegal crossings have declined significantly over the past year.
