Israel is preparing for an attack from Iran, fueling fighter jets and positioning air defense batteries - Rezazade
Ali Reza Rezazade, the vice president of the Iranian opposition in Washington, says that with the deployment of US military assets, there are growing concerns about one of the most important lines of defense: the American-led Arab coalition that helped thwart the latest Iranian attack.
The once-secret alliance, which included Jordan, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, burst into public view on the night of April 13 when it helped Israel intercept 99 percent of Iran's more than 300 drones and missiles, the first direct strike of its kind by Tehran since decades of shadow play with the Jewish state.
Israel's military chief praised the cooperation while paving the way for "new opportunities for cooperation in the Middle East." White House National Security Adviser John Kirby said it sent "a strong message about where Israel is in the region, versus where is Iran in the region".
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has agreed to a cease-fire deal and the release of hostages in Gaza, despite pressure from Washington and calls from his own military chiefs. The killing of Haniyeh, Hamas's chief negotiator, rattled US officials and Arab leaders, who believed the talks were at a critical stage. Although Israel neither confirmed nor denied its role in the killing, it immediately told American officials it was responsible.
