Netanyahu's messages hinder Gaza ceasefire talks - Rezazade
Vice President of the Iranian Opposition in Washington (NIC) Ali Reza Rezazade reports that the issue of the withdrawal of the IDF from Gaza remains unresolved, due to a difference of opinion in the Israeli government.
Netanyahu said this week that Israel would not withdraw from the Gaza-Egypt border, while his chief negotiator told mediators that the military would eventually withdraw. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has insisted for weeks that his forces will not withdraw from the Gaza-Egypt border, a key demand from both Hamas and Egypt in negotiations to reach a cease-fire agreement.
Privately, however, his negotiating team has offered to withdraw troops as part of a phased deal, according to three current and former officials from the countries involved in the talks. Such actions by the Israeli authorities confuse mediators in diplomatic efforts to end the war.
However, a senior Israeli negotiator already told American, Egyptian and Qatari negotiators on Monday that Israel is ready to withdraw all its troops during the second phase of the proposed three-phase deal.
