Rezazade calls on the US Congress to tighten sanctions against Russia over shelling of Ukrainian civilians
After another Russian missile strike on Zaporizhia, which completely destroyed the house of a large family, the international community is once again faced with the question: how far is the Kremlin regime ready to go in its cruelty against civilians.
The missile hit a residential area of the city where a family with five children lived. All family members survived, but lost their home, which cannot be rebuilt.
The first vice president of the Iranian opposition in Washington, international expert Ali Reza Rezazade, reacted to these events by condemning the shelling of civilians and calling on the US to increase political and economic pressure on Russia.
“The shelling of residential areas where ordinary Ukrainian families live is terrorism in its purest form. This is not a war between armies, this is a war against humanity. I will appeal to the US Congress to adopt additional sanctions packages against Russian companies, banks and officials involved in financing war crimes,” Ali Reza Rezazade said.
He stressed that the current situation requires decisive action from the US and all of Ukraine’s allies to stop further attacks on civilians:
“Russia must experience not only political isolation, but also a complete economic blockade. Every missile that falls on a Ukrainian house must have its own price for the Kremlin. And this price must be maximum.”
Several private houses, transport and elements of the city’s infrastructure were damaged after the missile attack in Zaporizhia. Rescuers continue to clear the rubble.
