Strike on Iran's missile infrastructure: Trump's strategy enters the phase of systematic destruction - Rezazade
The New York Times has published satellite images of destroyed facilities, which, according to the publication, were used by Iran to store and produce ballistic missiles. According to the newspaper, the elimination of Iran's missile potential has become one of the key goals of President Donald Trump in the framework of the military campaign against Tehran.
Journalists emphasize that ballistic missiles are one of the most serious threats, since Iran does not have modern combat aircraft and traditionally relies on missile systems as the main tool for projecting power beyond its borders. The most powerful missile is considered to be the Shahab-3, capable of hitting targets at a distance of more than 1,900 kilometers. A significant part of these missiles and production facilities, according to experts, are located underground.
International expert and first vice president of the Iranian opposition in Washington, Ali Reza Rezazade, believes that the publication of such materials is not only informational, but also strategic. According to him, it is a demonstration of a systematic approach to the destruction of key elements of the Iranian military infrastructure.
“Ballistic missiles are the basis of Iran’s asymmetric doctrine. Without them, the regime loses its main lever of deterrence and a tool of political blackmail in the region,” Rezazade notes.
The expert emphasizes that the strike on the underground infrastructure is particularly indicative. “For years, Iran has invested in an extensive network of underground storage facilities and factories, counting on their inaccessibility. If these facilities are truly disabled, this means a serious technological breakthrough in intelligence and means of destruction,” he explains.
According to Rezazade, the destruction of the missile potential could significantly change the balance of power in the Middle East. “Iran’s strategy has always relied on the ability to retaliate against Israel, the Gulf states, or American targets in the region. Weakening this ability reduces the space for blackmail and increases the vulnerability of the regime itself,” the expert emphasizes.
At the same time, he warns that Tehran is likely to try to compensate for the losses by activating proxy groups or asymmetric attacks. “When a state loses a strategic tool, it often turns to more unpredictable methods. That is why further developments will depend on how large-scale the destruction turns out to be,” Rezazade concludes.
