Trump names candidates for key Pentagon posts – Rezazade
The first vice president of the Iranian opposition in Washington (NIC), Ali Reza Rezazade, indicated that Donald Trump, the US president-elect, announced the nomination of four candidates for key Pentagon posts. The list includes businessmen, politicians and representatives of his previous administration.
Candidates:
1. Steven A. Feinberg
Billionaire and co-founder of the private equity firm Cerberus Capital Management. He was one of the main financial sponsors of Trump’s campaigns. Feinberg is known for his passion for weapons and investments in troubled businesses, such as the arms manufacturer Remington, which has twice declared bankruptcy.
2. Elbridge Colby
Former Pentagon official with family ties to the CIA. Considers China the greatest military threat to the US, supports arming Ukraine and tightening sanctions against Russia, but opposes Ukraine’s accession to NATO.
3. Michael Duffy
A former employee of the U.S. Office of the Budget. Duffy was involved in freezing military aid to Ukraine after Trump’s phone call with Volodymyr Zelensky that led to Trump’s first impeachment.
4. Emil Michael
A former Uber CEO who left the company after a scandal involving his visit to an escort bar in South Korea.
Trump’s selection reflects a return to the Trump administration of people who previously worked with him and a desire to strengthen control over the defense sector.
