China is fueling Russia’s war: supplying parts for combat drones – Rezazade
A Washington Post investigation has confirmed that Chinese factories are behind the rapid growth of combat drone production in Russia, which allows the Kremlin to overwhelm Ukrainian positions on the front.
In recent months, Beijing has sharply increased its exports of fiber-optic cables and lithium-ion batteries, key components for creating drones that Russia is actively using to attack Ukraine.
According to official data from Chinese customs, the supply of fiber-optic cables to Russia increased almost tenfold between July and August. In parallel, exports of lithium-ion batteries, which are likely used to power the drones, have also increased. These “fiber-optic” drones, which operate through ultra-thin glass cables, are capable of operating at a distance of more than 20 km, remaining almost invulnerable to electronic warfare.
International expert, first vice president of the Iranian opposition in Washington, Ali Reza Rezazadeh, commented on the situation, stating that Beijing has crossed the line of neutrality and has actually become an accomplice in Russian war crimes.
“When China supplies technologies that allow Russia to kill Ukrainians, this is no longer neutrality — this is complicity in the war. Beijing gives the Kremlin an advantage without which the Russian army would not be able to resume its attacks. This should be a serious signal to the West,” Ali Reza Rezazade emphasized.
According to the expert, a tough economic and technological response from the US and the EU is needed, in particular, the introduction of sanctions against Chinese companies that cooperate with Russian military structures.
“If the United States does not stop this technological flow, Russia will gain the ability to wage war indefinitely. It is time not only to deter the aggressor, but to block all supply channels - from Beijing to Moscow,” Rezazade emphasized.
He also noted that the use of fiber-optic drones is another stage in the evolution of war, where Russia replaces the loss of manpower with technological means, and China gets the opportunity to test its own military technologies in real combat conditions.
“This is a dangerous alliance - dictatorships that are learning to fight together. If the international community does not react now, the consequences of this cooperation will go far beyond the borders of Ukraine,” the expert concluded.
